Sinfonieorchester Basel

The label of the Sinfonieorchester Basel

The Basel Symphony Orchestra is one of the most important orchestras in Switzerland. His own concert series, concerts with partners and participation in the opera and ballet performances of the Theater Basel make the ensemble of around one hundred members an indispensable pillar of Basel’s cultural life.
Created in 1997 by the merger of the Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Basel Symphony Orchestra, the Basel Symphony Orchestra has seen a visible rejuvenation in recent years, making it one of the professional orchestras with the lowest average age. In addition to the highest orchestral culture and youthful vigor, stylistic flexibility is one of the hallmarks of the orchestra. His repertoire ranges from the works of Viennese classical music to the romantic core repertoire to compositions of the most recent modern era. Numerous CD recordings document the work of the orchestra.
In the 2009/10 season, the renowned American conductor and pianist Dennis Russell Davies was appointed Principal Conductor. Under Davies, the orchestra is constantly expanding its strengths and repertoire. Current projects of the successful team are each a complete recording of the symphonies of Franz Schubert and Arthur Honegger.

The label is maintained and evaluated worldwide via Solo Musica.
