Munich based pianist Margarita H\u00f6henrieder, winner of many international piano competitions, is playing piano since her childhood. At the age of seven, she was performing for the first time publicly at the Herkulessaal in Munich.
\nMargarita H\u00f6henrieder studied with Anna Stadler and Ludwig Hoffmann in Munich, as well as with Leon Fleisher in Baltimore, Maryland. She also has her friendship and collaboration with Alfred Brendel to thank for key artistic encouragement. In 1981, Margarita H\u00f6henrieder won first prize at the BUSONI competition in Bolzano. In 1991 she became the successor to Ludwig Hoffmann at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich.
\nHer artistic career has led her to many of the world\u2019s major music centers. Margarita H\u00f6henrieder has played many concerts as soloist with conductors like Kirill Petrenko, Claudio Abbado, Lorin Maazel, James Levine, Riccardo Chailly, and Fabio Luisi, and with such orchestras as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig, the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
\nShe has been a friend of Harald Genzmer for many years. Among other works, he dedicated the Concerto for Piano, Trumpet and Strings to her, which she premiered together with Guy Touvron and the W\u00fcrttemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn. Genzmer composed his last major work for Margarita H\u00f6henrieder, \u201cWie ein Traum am Rande der Unendlichkeit\u201d (\u201cLike a Dream on the Edge of Infinity\u201d) for piano and flute. In 2009, she played the premiere of the work with Emmanuel Pahud in Rome.
\nIn September 2014, she had a reunion with her former teacher Leon Fleisher as conductor in a performance of Beethoven\u2019s Piano Concerto No. 2 at the Zollverein world heritage site in Essen.
\nMargarita H\u00f6henrieder and the Bl\u00e4sersolisten der Staatskapelle Dresden give regularly concerts and are producing recordings together.<\/p>\n
